The fishing was fantastic! With two little kids it was their highlight. Small fish (11" trout), but we limited out in a couple hours.
We tent camped in this park in the middle of the week in August. Absolutely beautiful and silent! We didn't need electricity and water was nearby. The next site was quite a distance from us. This was also when 434 had a major construction project, so this limited the RVs that could even get to the park.
The camphosts were great. Saw them out and about daily. They were very helpful and informative. They receive 5 stars!
Beautiful park, but the RV area leaves much to be desired. We only stayed one night because the RV spots are right next to one another. Even commercial RV parks have better separation. I was looking out my window into the window of the RV next to me. State parks usually give ample room between sites. However the open spaces, hiking, and scenery are amazing! Nice campground hosts, beautiful location.
A tiny mountain Oasis! Friendly camp hosts that not only made us feel welcome, but gave great (successful) tips and assistance with fishing! My husband and 3 year old are on day 2 of limit catching!
Campground is very clean! We saw someone thouroughly clean the outhouse daily. The site we stayed in was without hookups and very, very spacious. However, we booked a site with electrical hookups and chose a site without because the electrical sites are right on top of one another.
There are only a few spots with hook-ups that also have privacy at this park. We were lucky enough to get site 20 because we got here on a Monday. Unfortunately it rained almost the whole week we were here. We camped here in July 2017 and from what I understand, it's not usually this rainy even during the summer monsoon season. It rained for 3 days and nights straight. It got pretty depressing. Especially because there are no TV signals and only a couple of bars of 3G data for internet. It's a beautiful place and if you like fishing, this is one of the best spots you'll ever find.
Good playground, great fishing, clean and enjoyable!
